🗑️ What is spam?
Spam (junk mail) refers to unsolicited emails typically used for advertising. Common examples include:
- Chain emails
- Promotional deals and coupons
- Sales offers
- Unwanted newsletters
While annoying and cluttering, these emails are usually not harmful.
What should I do if I receive spam?
- No need to report to IT if you’re confident it’s spam.
- Mark as Junk & block the sender:
- Computer:
- Right-click the email
- Select Junk
- Choose Block Sender
- iPhone:
- Tap the … icon
- Select Report Junk
- Computer:
🪝 What is phishing?
Phishing is a malicious scam where attackers pretend to be a trusted source to trick you into:
- Sharing passwords or personal data
- Clicking dangerous links
- Installing malware
These messages are designed to look legitimate but are intentionally deceptive.
What should I do if I receive a phishing email?
- Report it using the “Phish Alert” button:

- Select Phish Alert
