If you’re emailing someone outside of @EveryStep.org and the message includes personal identifying information, confidential information, or ePHI, you must encrypt the email.
To encrypt it, type *ENCRYPT in either the subject line or the body.
(It must be typed as shown, with the asterisk and no spaces.)
Once you send the message, the recipient will get a secure email notification. They’ll click “Read the message”, which opens a webpage where they can either sign in with their Office 365 account or choose “Sign in with a one-time passcode.” The passcode is sent to them instantly.
After signing in, they can securely read your message, open or save attachments, and reply within the secure webpage.
*ePHI refers to any protected health information (PHI) that is covered under Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) security regulations and is produced, saved, transferred or received in an electronic form.”
